NYSC member stabbed to death by robbers in Kaduna

A female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Grace Chalya Silas, was killed by suspected armed robbers in Kaduna State on Thursday morning.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. when the victim was jogging along GRA road in Barnawa area of the state capital.

According to the police, the assailants, who were riding on a motorcycle, attempted to snatch her phone and stabbed her in the process.

The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the incident, saying that the victim was rushed to Harmony Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by the doctors.

He said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Musa Yusuf Garba, has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter and vowed to bring the culprits to justice. He also appealed to the public to provide useful information that could assist the police in tracking down the suspects.

The NYSC Coordinator in Kaduna State, Mr. Ishaya Dauda, expressed shock and sadness over the death of the corps member, he described her as a diligent and hardworking person who was committed to her service year.

Mr. Ishaya confirmed that the NYSC management visited the family of the deceased and condoled with them over their loss.

He assured them that the NYSC would cooperate with the police to ensure that justice is done, he prayed for the repose of her soul and urged other corps members to be security conscious at all times.
