A bizarre incident occurred in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, on Wednesday, when a young girl started behaving strangely after alighting from a tricycle, popularly known as Keke NAPEP.
The girl, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was seen roaming the road at Aba road, near Uchenna Bus Stop, around 12:30 pm. She was talking to herself and trying to remove her long artificial hair. She was also seen attempting to take off her shirt, revealing the black tube she wore underneath atop a pair of trousers.

According to some eyewitnesses, the girl was dropped by a Keke NAPEP rider, who was suspected to be a ‘Yahoo boy’, a term used to describe internet fraudsters. They alleged that the girl might have been used for ritual purposes by the rider, who sped off after dropping her.
The girl could not answer questions by passers-by, who tried to help her. She was also seen rolling on the ground and hallucinating.
Some residents of the area expressed shock and pity over the girl’s condition, while others blamed her for falling victim to the ‘Yahoo boy’.
The police have not yet commented on the incident, and it is unclear if the girl has been taken to a hospital or a rehabilitation centre.
