Naira Marley returns to Lagos to help in MohBad’s death probe

Popular singer and rapper, Afeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, has returned to Lagos from London to assist the authorities in the ongoing investigation of the death of his former protégé, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka MohBad.

The singer announced his arrival in a tweet on Tuesday, saying that he would be meeting with the police to uncover the truth and seek justice for MohBad.

He wrote, “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole.

“I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”

MohBad, who was signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Music label in 2019, died on September 12 at the age of 27. The cause of his death has not been officially confirmed, but there have been speculations that he was poisoned by some of his friends.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that Naira Marley had been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, tweeted after Naira Marley’s statement that “Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities…”
