Nigerian Artists Shine in 2024 MOBO Awards Nominations

The Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards has announced its nominees for the 2024 edition, with several Nigerian artists earning recognition in various categories.

Nigerian singers Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, Rema, Ayra Starr, and Adekunle Gold have all been nominated for the Best African Music Act. They are joined in this category by South African duo Tyla and Uncle Waffles, as well as Cameroon’s Libianca.

However, Amebo City noted that this is the first time since 2017 that no Nigerian artist has been nominated in the Best International Act category. This year’s nominees include global superstars such as Drake, Nicki Minaj, Sexxy Red, Ice Spice, Doja Cat, Latto, and SZA.

In the Best Gospel Act category, Nigerian gospel singer Limoblaze has been nominated. He will be competing against Annatoria, Guvna B, Triple O, and others.

Another Nigerian, P2J, has been nominated in the Best Producer category, facing competition from Steel Banglez, Kyle Evans, M1onTheBeat, and others.

The 2024 MOBO Awards is set to take place on February 7, 2024, at the Utilita Arena Sheffield in Sheffield, United Kingdom. The event promises to be a celebration of the best in Black music and entertainment.
