In a shocking incident, five people were killed in a shooting at a nightclub in Oba, located in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state. The victims included two members of a local vigilance group, a bouncer, and two patrons of the club. The owner of the club was also abducted during the attack.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident, which occurred on Sunday. Adeoye described the incident as “unfortunate” and pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice. “We got a distress call at about 2am, Monday. The DPO Oba Division led police officers and members of a local vigilance group to the scene, but the attackers had already fled,” he said.

He further explained that the police Rapid Response Squad from Awkuzu had been patrolling the area from 6pm to midnight before moving to other parts of the state. The incident occurred after the team had left the area.

Adeoye also revealed that the police had yet to arrest any suspects, but investigations had commenced to identify the attackers. He noted a pattern in the attacks, stating, “The gang was responsible for a similar incident where the victim’s body was dismembered about two weeks ago in Ihiala.”

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation.
