A 16-year-old girl has been raped by a 32-year-old man after she got drunk during an annual church event in Adubi, Ogun State, on Saturday, November 6, 2023.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident on Friday. He said; “the suspect, Gbenga Kolawole, had been arrested and the victim had been taken to a hospital for medical treatment.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun, Omolola Odutola, stated that the victim’s mother reported the case to the police, she confirmed that her daughter had consumed too much alcohol during the church year anniversary celebration.
In her words Odutola said;”The mother took her daughter to a nearby bar shop and locked her there, hoping that she would sober up. However, the suspect, who lived in the same area, took advantage of the situation and raped the girl, who was unconscious.”
The suspect was caught in the act by one Sunday Ibrahim, who alerted the police, and the victim was taken to Ore Ofe Hospital for medical attention and examination, while the suspect was undergoing preliminary investigation.
The police has anounced that they would charge the suspect to court as soon as possible.
The police spokesperson warned parents and guardians to monitor their children, especially during festive periods, and to avoid exposing them to alcohol and other substances that could impair their judgment and make them vulnerable to predators.
