Omokri accuses AriseTV and Rufai Oseni of Insurrection over Tinubu’s degree

Written by Keji Evelyn

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and a critic of President Bola Tinubu, has accused AriseTV and its anchor, Rufai Oseni, of insurrection for spreading false information about Tinubu’s degree from Chicago State University.

Omokri, in a different posts,  posted on his X (Formerly known as Twitter) social media account, claimed that AriseTV and Oseni wilfully lied to Nigerians that Tinubu did not attend Chicago State University and that the university had denied Tinubu’s credentials.

He alleged that Oseni was sponsored by Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and a rival to Tinubu, who also planned a religious war against the Muslim Ummah.

He said that even after they were furnished with evidence that their claims were false, they continued to cause them to be published and that Oseni threatened to kill him when he exposed him.

Omokri said that the damage caused by the groupthink and herd mentality fostered on Nigerians by those who lied about Tinubu’s degree would be hard to undo and that many educated and enlightened people were mouthing off these lies on social media and the media.

He said that he was one of the few persons whose stories never changed and that he travelled to Chicago in September 2022 to verify Tinubu’s degree by himself.

He said he did not rely on the internet, rumours, gossip or beer parlour talk and that he told AriseTV on air in November 2022 that they were lying about Chicago State University.

He said he also protested against Tinubu at Chatham House in August 2023 and called him out, so he did not dump Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election.

He said he would always tell the truth, even if it favoured his enemy and injured his friend.

He challenged AriseTV and Oseni to run a search on the social security number in the Southwest College document, which he said belonged to Tinubu, the male now President of Nigeria.

He said there was absolutely no doubt that Tinubu was admitted, attended and graduated from Chicago State University and that his degree was genuine.

He warned those who were pushing for a military coup to try it and see the consequences, saying that the regions they hated had more soldiers and generals and would likely emerge as the new leaders.
