The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for having a different name on his West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate.
The ruling party said that Atiku, who submitted his WAEC certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of his credentials, used the name Sadiq Abubakar instead of his real name.
The APC said that this was a sign of moral corruption and an attempt to deceive the electorate.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, stated this on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He said that it did not make sense that Atiku would have another name on his WAEC certificate and his real name on other certificates.
He said that Atiku was accusing President Bola Tinubu of certificate forgery, while he himself was guilty of the same offence.
He said that Atiku will continue to explain himself without any evidence.
“He has to explain to Nigerians why he has a different name on his WAEC certificate and his real name on other certificates. How can he use Sadiq Abubakar for his WAEC and then swear an affidavit that he is the same person as Atiku Abubakar? That is a clear case of forgery and perjury,” Morka said.
“He is morally corrupt and he is accusing President Tinubu of certificate forgery, while he himself is a forger. He has no evidence to back up his claims. He is just desperate to tarnish the image of the president and the APC,” he added.
Morka said that the APC was confident that Nigerians will reject Atiku and vote for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
He said that Tinubu has a proven track record of leadership and integrity, and that he has the vision to take Nigeria to the next level.
He said that Tinubu’s credentials are authentic and verifiable, unlike Atiku’s.
He said that Tinubu graduated from Chicago State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1983.
He also said that Tinubu has a certificate in Management from Harvard Business School.
He said that Tinubu has served Nigeria as a senator and as a governor of Lagos State, where he transformed the state into a model of development and good governance.
He said that Tinubu is also the leader of the APC, which has won two consecutive presidential elections in 2019 and 2023.
“He is the best candidate for Nigeria. He has the experience, the competence, and the character to lead this country to greater heights. He has a clear agenda for security, economy, infrastructure, education, health, and social welfare. He has the support of Nigerians across all regions and religions. He is the president we need,” Morka said.
